Another year brings another trip to Prairie Village Annual Threshing Show You saw a bunch of my favorite parts of 2009 before and now these are some more highlights from 2010. The highlight of this trip was by far seeing my Grandfathers John Deere B all shined up. When he passed away we inherited two of his tractors. Our favorite and more rare, a Farmall Regular. And the second one a John Deere B. After a lot of thought we sold that B to a collector and this year we finally got to see it all fixed up! It was a very happy time for both my father and myself.

Some other highlights of this trip include some amazing wood sculptures, the highlighted tractor ‘Farmall’, some incredibly large factory engines, a newly opened church, and of course some tractor pull madness.

Passionate for antiques, my father cheapest generic cialis and I always make a point to take some time each year and keep up the tradition of visiting a few antique shows near by. Several years now we’ve go to the show in Minneapolis, Back to the 50′s. They always put on a great show, I’ve never seen so many cars in one place. The exhibit ranges from some old cars in great need of restoration, to popular cars everybody recognizes. But the most exciting part is when you stumble across a car that you’ve never seen before. This show has it all, and then some. If you’ve get a chance I’d certainly recommend it. Cars, a few tractors, an auction, and much more. Enjoy!

The time of my life; honeymoon with my wonderful wife at our surprise destination.

I searched high and low to find the best deal for our money. The best present for my wife-to-be. Through dozens of different resorts along the coast of Cancun, through website upon website of deals and ‘last minute’ sales. Finally I stumbled on the one for us; the Privileged package at Ocean Coral and Turquesa. It turned out to be even more amazing that I could have ever imagined. The skies were blue-er than I could have ever imagined, the beaches were smoother than dreams can imagine, and the sun warmed us all the way down to the bone.

We were pampered for 4 days and 4 nights. We ate like kings, people greeted us everywhere and prepared everything for us. They pull out our chairs, took our orders, and even carried our food from the buffet. We dressed up buy prescription drugs without prescription in the evenings and ate Italian, Japanese, Steak House, and fresh Seafood. At night there was entertainment in the lounge or a constant party down by the pool. We had breakfast in bed, and a complimentary turn down service at night. An amazing view of the ocean and a hot tub on the balcony that we put to good use at least once a day.

The weather was without a doubt, the most humid place I’ve ever been. And yet we were never more than 2 mins from a complimentary cold drink and our room was always kept perfectly cooled. The privileged lounge was key during these times, as we could access the net, watch tv, or dine, all in the air conditioning. cialis dosage 20mg

Being privileged never felt so good. We had reserved spots in a private beach with shaded chairs or beach beds where they delivered cold water in ice, drinks, or snacks until we were content. And when we got sick of the salt water we could jump into the privileged pool with more of the same treatments. The rest of the beach was full of activity, games, and relaxing people.

Enjoy these photos from our trip and follow the link to my flickr for even more photos. Many invoke a strong passion that we felt on the trip and the painful feeling of loss as we had to leave.

Nothing quite describes it better than, THE time of our lifes!

Following a lengthy desire to return for another adventure through the Bureau of Mines we gathered a few comrades and took off on our next expedition. While not much had changed buy prescription drugs online in the 9 months since we last visited, on this cialis cheap online trip we devoted much of our time toward visiting other locations.

We spent some time scoping out the exterior and taking some artistic shots. Then found an open building that we later learned was one of the original structures on the campus. After some more exploring we built up the courage to try a few doors. We took some fun shots from the boiler room and then found the jackpot; an open door to the main campus! We explored for the better part of 2 hours. Finding everything imaginable, old elevators, science rooms, radioactive signs, old abandoned equipment, and even an open stairway to the roof!

Take a look at these assorted favorite photos from the trip and follow the link to my flickr for even more photos. Enjoy the photos but if you go to visit remember this is a dangerous facility and is not open the general public.

This was my first time attending one of their shows and I must say it was quite an entertaining experience. We arrived on opening day and spent the better part of an hour wandering around the makeshift paths and weaving through the crowds of people. Everywhere the eye could see there were hills of flowers accentuated by faux sunlight and people stooping down to get a closer look or to smell all of the wonderful aromas. If you ever get the chance take some time to stop on by to enjoy the sights and be amazed at all the dirt, flowers, and work that went into making it an enjoyable experience year after year.

The powerful wooden members give the interior a very prevalent sense of strength and make any observer feel very secure and protected. The tint of the wood and the light tile floors make the sanctuary glow with praise and glory.

The buy prescription drugs first thing I noticed and the most striking point about St. Henry is the level of attention and detail that is apparent in every corner and material throughout the sanctuary. From the stain glass windows to the religious details on the walls, from the powerful wood structure to the authentic alter stone; everywhere your eye glances it will find a new detail that makes it unique.

More than just an amazing view the building is a testament to the power of architecture and its ability to conform a persons thoughts and feelings; to daily cialis dose make them feel sheltered, strengthened, humbled and yet inviting.

The design of a library is no easy task. As a prominent public building in any community, as well as a vast repository of knowledge, does female cialis work it becomes a challenge to create such a well known landmark while remaining loyal to the surrounding area and inviting to the people. Although rough at points, I personally found this project to be a real joy. It was a great exercise in creating a building which could cater to so many different people. I?ll remember it most for the security issues raised in the design requirements which included multiple secure entrances and the ability for the community to have access after business hours.

    1st Floor Plan

Starting in the upper left you’ll see a reading room with a large window for natural lighting, a delivery area, plenty of stacks for books, and finally a large computer room for digital material. Moving to the lower right is the fire exit and stairs, an administrative section, more stacks for books, a large outdoor patio facing south for lots of natural lighting, and public restroom. In transitioning to the second floor please take notice that the stairs and elevator are located inside the vestibule allowing for the main library to be locked after hours while the reading room and upper levels are available for other evening activities.

    Something to Nothing

The first project was a competition sponsored by KKE that involved nothing cialis herbal alternative more than a transformation from ‘Something’ to ‘Nothing’. My project was a study of conflicting elements through time. I was very intrigued with the ability of something so soft as water to erode other hard elements such as rocks and metals. As the photo on the right (and the gallery link below) shows, I created a arrangement illustrating the effects of water rusting away a metal barrel and wearing away small pools in rocks. To complete the effect I placed frozen ice above the display so it would trickle down the artificial rain drops and then fall to the rocks below. It was an enjoyable project and an engaging experiment in designing through theory.

    Urban Design & Project Planning

The second project of the series was a detailed assessment of the regional and urban context in Winnipeg. Working in groups we conducted an inventory and analysis of several thoroughfares in the city, paying particular interest to the following topics:

? Transit as a catalyst for development
? Neighborhoods as a primary urban building block with pedestrians as a design focus
? Designing within the context of the existing urban fabric
? Master plans as design/development guides
? Zoning Regulations as design opportunities
? Building Form & Mass with sustainability at the urban level

While focused on those issues we collected information on community, site, natural systems, built features, impressions of the population, financial impacts, transportation issues, neighborhoods, traffic/transit/pedestrian systems, demographics, infrastructure, history, culture, and the impacts each system had on the others. We then used this information to create a scale model with several overlays to show our data collection. This poster of our [Download not found], shows an overview of the site information we collected. It was a very enjoyable time up in Winnipeg and we learned a lot about this complex interaction between the community, its urban environment, and the analysis done within.

Master Planning & Design Guidelines Development

The next phase of this process was to take all of this information and put together some formal analysis and complete an illustrative master plan to focus later design decisions. Compiling all this information we created several analysis of the data and identified several important issues. As sections of the class we then broke each of these issues down into design terms and created guidelines to keep standards up and prevent future designs from getting carried away. As shown in the two documents below, we concluded this phase with graphic and verbal recommendations including design alternatives for physical developments, zoning/land-use regulations, and design standards within each of the zones.

Test Project – Fire Escape Plaza

The final project in this semester long series was to complete an individual test project designed around and integrated into the master plan. Each class member assembled some possible project ideas to accompany their group’s master plan and then randomly switched throughout the class. Then we were charged with developing a design that conformed to the assigned master plan for the area which we were given. The [Download not found] I received worked well as a catalyst in creating a design based around strengthening the urban environment through architecture. In addition to a normal design problem we were instructed to find areas and ways from which we could take advantage of our assigned master plans, thus testing their effectiveness and strengthening our abilities in code development. This exercise involved preparing large scaled models, perspective sketches, sections & plan drawings to illustrate the design and how it related to the criteria that was imposed upon us by the master plan developers. The results of my studies were then modeled in SketchUp, rendered in Artlantis, assembled in Illustrator and can be seen in my [Download not found] and Fire Escape Plaza Virtual Tour. Larger and additional images can be examined in the galleries below. While it was a short project, overlooking many of the details typical to a design studio, it was a new and interesting challenge to us as students as we struggled to conform to the strict guidelines and find loopholes much like the process of real life urban design.

The following are photos from a photo-walk around and inside portions drugs without prescription of the MN Bureau of Mines campus up near Minnehaha Park that took place in September of 2009. The majority of the buildings were secured by means of concrete and boarded up windows. While there were several locations that had trash strewn about the area was surprisingly clean. The grounds were slightly kept up as a dog walking park and the trails behind, along the river, were quite popular. Inside seemed very peaceful, while there was some trash and a lot of art, none of it seemed very threatening. While exploring the area we came across several locations that appeared to be a sleeping place but never saw any such occupants. As of today this entire area is set to be demolished in the Summer of 2009.

As someone who has a passion for architecture I would wish these structures to be transformed into something useful and full of character. So it is sad to see such an interesting campus simply be demolished, especially seeing how well it has stood up over the years. However, I am pleased to see that it will at least be used as a commemoration for all that occurred here. In accordance, the Superintendent of the DOI writes:

This site holds great significance for American Indian people, for its role in early European settlement of the region, and for its 20th Century role in development of mining and mine safety technology. I am excited that this site will be preserved and managed by the National Park Service and we will be able to tell the many stories of this site to present and future generations of Americans.
